About Me

About me.....

I don't like having my picture taken. I don't do selfies. But, just for you....

I am a follower of Christ. I have a warped sense of humor and tend to speak my mind. I am very opinionated, but pride myself on trying to have an open mind and heart. I love living in the country. I love meeting new people and love to talk. My husband is my very best friend. My mom runs a close second on that. I have one sister, but she is so much more than a sister. My best girlfriend is K. She shares the same warped sense of humor and understands me like no one else. I have been married to my soulmate for over 20 years and we have three beautiful children....

Our daughter, whom I will refer to as "A"

Our son, D, whom will often be referred to as "the teenager".

Our son, Z (holding our new nephew, W), whom may also be referred to as "Z-man", "ZZ", or "Little Z".

Here's the hubs, T, who does not like having his picture taken.

I homeschool. Our daughter is grown and out on her own. I love to cook. I love to bake. I hate to clean, but LOVE a really clean house. I love to organize things and love it when everything is in its place. I love to craft and DIY (the hubby helps A LOT with the larger projects). I LOVE to decorate! I just recently discovered what my true decorating taste is and am ready to make-over every room. I think that covers the basics.

OUR STORY:
We were city dwellers for most of our marriage. Late 2012 we decided to make a change and downsize from the considerably large home we lived in (I loved that house and miss it terribly).  A new family was ready to move in to our home pretty quickly and we had not found a new home yet, so we decided to move in with my Mom while we searched for a new home.

Mom lives in the country and has had the house all to herself since Dad passed away in late 2004. Since home was a considerable distance from her work, she had been staying with us during the week and going home only on the weekends since 2005. We already had this multi-generational living thing down pat. Plus, she's like the best mom ever.

We packed up and moved to Mom's right before Christmas. The plan was to stay for 2 or 3 months 'til we found a new place. One month in and I was ready to stay forever.

No more sirens 24 hours a day. No street noise. No worrying about the kids if they were outside without an adult. No more hearing everything your neighbors are saying and doing. No more nosy neighbors. The list could go on and on.

It just didn't make sense for us to live separate from my mom anymore. We'd been living together 80% of the time anyway. Why two separate mortgages, electric bills, etc.

So, here we are. Small renovations have already taken place. More are on the way. I'm trying not to come in and take over the joint. It's my mother's house after all. But, oh at the changes I'd like to make.

If you have questions about our multi-generational living arrangement and how we make it work without too much hair tearing out, I'd love to hear from you.
